Your overhead conductor can carry around 5% more current with no extra conductor material.

The difference is in the finish.

Untreated aluminium conductor has an emissivity of around 0.5. Wet blasting raises it to around 0.8, so the cable radiates more heat, runs cooler and delivers greater ampacity. It also meets ASTM B979 for non-specular finish, a requirement for supply on US Federal land.

Dry blasting reaches the same specification, but at a cost: airborne dust, operator health risk, dust collector maintenance and residue on finished conductor. Wet blasting suppresses dust at source.

The Vapormatt Profelis sits inline with your stranding and reeling equipment. In a single pass it cleans, removes drawing lubricant and oxide, textures, rinses and dries.

  • Four or eight blast guns for consistent 360-degree coverage
  • Conductor from 1mm to 54mm in diameter
  • Around 20% less compressed air than equivalent dry blast systems
  • Runs left to right or right to left to suit your line layout

We installed our first dedicated wet blasting machine for overhead cable back in 2010, and the Profelis is now the established choice for leading conductor manufacturers across North America and Europe.
