Acid pickling can’t hold a specified surface roughness (Ra). Dry blasting lets dust settle back on product you’ve just cleaned. Brushes wear, so the finish at the end of a run never matches the start.

The Vapormatt Profelis removes all three compromises. It’s the only purpose-built in-line wet blasting machine for continuous wire, cable, strip, rod and bandsaw blades, processing 1mm to 54mm product at up to 120 m/min with integrated rinsing and drying. No acid, no dust, no off-line step.

Wire and cable: oxides, scale, drawing lubricants and graphite removed in one pass. Overhead conductor gains a non-specular finish that lifts emissivity from 0.5 to 0.8, worth around 5% more current-carrying capacity.

Bandsaw blades: carbide teeth honed, gullets peened to around -1,500 MPa and surfaces prepared for coating, all in-line. Pilana Metal raised line speed from 1.5 to 8 m/min after replacing dry blasting.

Strip and rod: a consistent, reactive surface for bonding, coating and rotary extrusion, with patented micro nozzles reaching wire down to 1mm.

Every Profelis is tested against its agreed specification before it leaves us.
