Poor adhesion between a cable and its plastic encapsulation can lead to delamination, moisture ingress and costly failure in service. Reliable bonding begins at the surface.

Wet blasting, also known as vapor blasting, cleans the cable and leaves a reactive surface ready for bonding. Water carries the abrasive, giving a controlled, repeatable finish without the dust and heat associated with dry blasting.

The Vapormatt Profelis automatic wet blasting machine brings this process into your production line. It wet blasts, rinses and blows off continuous product as it's drawn through, handling one cable at a time from 1mm to 54mm in diameter. Up to eight Mk3 blast guns each treat a specific segment of the cable, delivering 360-degree processing in a single pass.

The ventilated cabinet of the Profelis helps prevent recontamination after processing, and an optional cable vacuum drying unit is available. The machine is designed to fit into your existing process lines and can run left to right or right to left to match your set-up.

Submarine communications cable is a typical application, where the Profelis creates a reactive surface for outer layer bonding.
