It's a dull job but someone has to do it

Non-specular finish can be achieved by Vapormatt

Having just arrived back from some successful trials in the States it seems appropriate to share some of the benefits that we were demonstrating with our process.

Using the Profelis we were asked to achieve a non-specular finish on some over ground power cables which, as I learnt recently, is a national standard across all federal land.

The non-specular finish is a good example where the application is led by function, as the wet blast process is used to reduce the reflectivity of the surface. By using a coarse aluminium media the finish left on the cables means they blend in with their surroundings.

From the feedback received it is apparent the Vapormatt’s wet blast process is a strong alternative. Unlike current dry blast machines the Profelis system will give a much more consistent finish for better compliance with the regulations whilst leaving less media particles embedded into the cable itself.

Chatting with the operators I also found that Profelis wet blast system was preferred due to its usability. Being easier to manage and far cleaner than dry blasting the operators were able to work in a more comfortable and less stressful environment.

With 8 blast guns encased in a unique manifold production speed was impressive, as a 360 degree wall of slurry meant no strands were left unprocessed. Come the end of the trials we had hit the lines maximum speed whilst still being a long way from our limit of 150m (492ft) per minute.

Currently Vapormatt have a demonstration system which can be brought to your production lines and easily incorporated. We are also able to provide on-site consultation and commissioning throughout the trial to make it as easy as possible.
