If a die isn't clean enough to inspect accurately, it's not clean enough.
The caustic dip removes the bulk of the aluminium. It doesn't remove what makes inspection difficult.
Fine residual particles. Carbonisation. Discolouration from heat and pressure. All of it sits on the bearing surface, and all of it hides the faults your die correctors need to find before that die goes back to press.
The Vapormatt Cougar+ with single load end is built for die shops facing exactly this.
Water carries the abrasive across the die under controlled pressure. Because the slurry flows rather than impacts, it reaches into the port holes and intricate bearing profiles that steel shot can't, and the cushioning effect of the water leaves edge geometries intact. Dies emerge clean enough to inspect with confidence, dimensionally unchanged, and in an activated state that aids nitrogen diffusion during nitriding.
The single load end configuration suits shops running up to 10 dies a day. The powered vertical door brings the turntable fully clear of the cabinet, so overhead crane loading is straightforward - up to 1000kg (2205lb) UDL. Dies from 70mm to over 1,100mm diameter run in the same machine. No drying stage before blasting. No airborne dust.
