Alloy car wheel in a Vapormatt wet blasting cabinet with blast gun

Wet blasting (or vapor blasting, or vapour blasting, or aqua blasting to give it its other names) quickly and efficiently removes dirt, grime, brake dust, and other stubborn contaminants from the surface of alloy wheels. As well as cleaning wheels, wet blasting can be used to remove coatings like lacquers.

Water in the wet blasting process aids controllability and delivers a smoother, more consistent finish compared with dry blasting. It’s also gentler on surfaces minimising the risk of damage.

Crucially, the integrity of the wheel is preserved throughout the process. Wet blasting does not create any micro-fractures that can weaken the metal.

Wet blasting is highly time and cost-efficient compared with labour-intensive hand cleaning or chemical methods. It’s an eco-friendly method of cleaning and de-coating wheels too, as there are no harsh chemicals and good blast media and water are recycled through the system.
