Vapormatt, wet blasting services, bead blasting

With the UK’s Advanced Engineering show around the corner manufacturers and engineers will be able to see the latest developments and technologies that are keeping Britain at the forefront of the engineering world. However, thought should also be given to the advanced surface engineering technologies that have been progressing at a similar rate. With a desire to be the world’s leading wet blasting company the wealth of composite and aerospace firms, now based in the UK, has encouraged Vapormatt to innovate and deliver controllable surface finishing technologies to these industries.

The importance of surface finishing makes it a highly critical but potentially underestimated step in the manufacturing process. This can particularly be the case with mechanical finishing processes such as wet blasting. However, not only is wet blasting a highly “green” method it has also been proven to give great benefits for a number of applications that are typically tackled using alternative processes.

Vapormatt have been providing surface finishing solutions for wet peening and cleaning to the aerospace industry for several years and on a global level. Typically customers have asked for our wet blasting process because of the level of control that we can offer them on what can be a volatile application. With up to 15 controllable variables the Vapormatt process can give ease of processing when high value parts are involved.

The same can be said for the composites industry where the Vapormatt process will increase the shear strength of bonding components through effective surface preparation. The same can be said when painting and lacquering carbon fibre parts as the uniform and controlled finish eliminates the risk of fibre damage and inconsistencies. It is for this reason that several Formula 1 teams and, more recently, the National Composites Centre, have chosen the Vapormatt process to prepare the composite parts.

However, we didn’t just gain this expertise overnight.

Since the go Vapormatt have been committed to working with their customers to really understand their needs. By taking a consultative approach we have been able to deliver innovative methods of surface finishing for others to follow. An important part of the way we work is the ability to offer process development and research into your applications and our Gloucester Contract Process Centre has been set up exactly for this.

If you are considering the benefits of surface finishing why not give wet blasting some thought?

As mentioned we have a Process Centre set up to go through your own application and needs, with a full range of wet blasting machines on display we can also take you through the controls that we offer.
